Performing Installation, Plaster cast, dimension variable, July 2014-Today

The installation is composed by 79 plaster cast molds of my right foot and 1 of the left one.

The bandages are left empty inside as if they were spare pieces of replacement, negative imprints that verify the presence of an absent body.

The feet are ‘slept out’ of the body thanks to a small cut on the heel that remains open to remind the vicious cycle in which the incurable wound continues on regenerating. Being wrapped up becomes an additional restriction in the attempt of protecting and taking care of it. Achilles heel.

The installation turns around a personal physical weakness that causes a spontaneous but momentary loss of balance, impeding body movement. Although no fractions were ever found on the right ankle, I continue on experiencing the dislocation since I was fifteen.

The project began on July 2014, the month of the 40th year from the Turkish invasion in Cyprus in 1974, dividing the island in two sides. At the beginning the ‘steps’ were 40, 40 steps that were never taken towards a possible solution to the problem.  The steps are attempts of going against the grain, against a dislocation.

The action of mold-making is repeated for every re-installation. In this way the number of 'steps' increases continuously and the installation becomes 'mobile'. It ‘walks in time’. Every step becomes the archive of a moment of forced static nature.
