‘‘Regarding time, climax, is that moment in which time rises up to such an extension that, even if not being eternity,
feels like if it were, or in other terms, it is eternity, but only for a moment.’’
‘‘Riguardo al tempo, il climax, è quel momento in cui il tempo si innalza talmente al di sopra che, pur non essendo eternità,
e come se lo fosse, o in altri termini, essa è eternità, ma solo per un momento.’’
Manlio Sgalambro, Italian philosopher and writerThe performance took place during an exhibition opening. I entered the scene while the curator was giving his speech, walked across the room and sat on the chair. I wrote on a piece of fabric that was the time and started embroidering, drawing small lines side by side. I slowly transformed into a silent sculpture and became transparent.
The individual is enclosed in a hypothetical transparent bubble, in an ex-temporal dimension of time. The action results in a double renunciation: of time as collective memory and of time as a metaphysical concept. We become smaller and smaller, a fragment amongst everything that surrounds us, while in the meantime a more consistent mass of micro-cells within, we eliminate ourselves.
