The Time-Counters series consists of embroidered pieces I began creating in 2014, which have since evolved into a distinct art form. Using thread and needle like a pencil, I trace fine lines alongside one another onto the fabric. Except for two specific works, there is no pre-planned pattern; the composition unfolds organically during the process. For circular pieces, I begin by defining a spatial limit on the fabric’s surface, marking the circumference of the wooden hoop with a pencil. As the layers of thread accumulate and tighten the warp and weft of the fabric, the original shape of the traced circle subtly transforms.
With each session, the embroidered surface becomes denser, while I track the passage of time by recording the exact minutes spent —and sometimes writing them directly on the fabric. This work becomes an expression of hatching through time. Every minute spent in the process corresponds to an inner impulse —reflecting a personal, intimate dimension of the passage of time. Each piece is named after the collective total of minutes spent on its completion, as time is our most valuable possession. The Time Counters are maps and testimonials of the immaterial dimension of time.
