Time-Counters

In-Time modifications of a Cycle_ Embroidering Time. 

Time-Counters are a series of embroidered art pieces that I started creating in 2014 and have evolved as an art form ever since. Needle and thread are used like a pencil, tracing small lines alongside one another, drawing over the fabric surface. 

Before starting the embroidery I define a spatial limit to my actions by marking the circumference of the wooden hoop with a pencil (12,9cm). The design is formed during the action, when warp and weft are tightened, distorting the initial shape of the traced circle.

The work becomes an expression of hatching through time. Every minute spent in the process corresponds to an inner impulse, a personal and intimate dimension of the passing of time. As a result, these inner maps are created. 

Each art piece is named after the collective value of the seconds, the minutes, and the hours that pass, as time is our most valuable possession. 

Variazioni in-tempo di un ciclo_ Ricamare il tempo. 

I Time-Counters sono una serie di opere ricamate che ha avuto inizio nel 2014 e continua ad evolversi. Ago e filo vengono usati come una matita che tratteggia piccole linee, una affianco all'altra, su una superficie tessile.

Prima di iniziare a ricamare definisco uno spazio-limite alla mia azione segnando a matita la circonferenza del cerchietto in legno (12,9 cm). Il disegno nasce dall'azione di un riempimento aleatorio. Durante l’operazione i fili della trama e dell’ordito si tendono, influenzando così anche la forma del cerchio iniziale, del quale diametro si distorce. 

Le opere diventano un'espressione del marcare del tempo. Ogni minuto impiegato nell'operazione corrisponde ad un impulso interno, una dimensione intima e personale, creando queste 'mappe del mondo interiore'. Le opere prendono il proprio nome dal valore collettivo dei secondi, i minuti  e le ore che passano, il nostro possesso più prezioso.
